Helizander Brecailo Manager of Investments and Acquisitions Helizander oversees the Phaunos forestry investments in South America. He was instrumental in identifying and negotiating the acquisition of the Turmalina timberland investment in Minas Gerais, Brazil. He also assisted in the due diligence and investment analysis of the Fund’s timberland investment in East Africa. Helizander works closely with the local managers to improve all aspects of operational management to achieve the highest standards and implement fiduciary controls. Previously he worked at Banco Itau in Sao Paulo, Brazil, as a business team leader, performing valuation of financial services and managing an annual budget of over US$200 million. Helizander gained valuable experience in financial products management, including retirement funds, overdraft and corporate payroll. Helizander is a native of Brazil and earned a BS in Electronic Engineering from Instituto Tecnologico de Aeronautica (ITA) in Sao Jose Dos Campos, Brazil, a Specialization in Business Administration from Fundacao Getulio Vargas in Sao Paulo, and a Master’s in Business Administration degree from MIT Sloan School of Management in Cambridge, Massachusetts. He is fluent in English, Portuguese and Spanish.
